The Court:-Pursuant to a complaint lodged by the petitioner before the Officerin-Charge, Cyber Crime Police Station, an FIR has been lodged. The petitioner submits that the offence covers various States. Prayer has been made for conducting the investigation by any officer in the rank of the Deputy Commissioner of Police. Learned advocate representing the State respondents produces the report filed by the Officer-in-Charge, Cyber Crime Police Station, Kolkata signed on 1st February, 2024, which mentions that on the basis of the complaint a case vide Cyber PS, Kolkata Case No.07/24 dated 24.01.2024 under Section 66 read with Section 43 of Information Technology Act, 2000, has been initiated. Investigation is reported to be in progress.

From the submission made on behalf of the parties and upon perusal of the report filed by the police, it appears that the complaint was lodged in the month of January, 2024 and till date there is no update with regard to the investigation that has been done. As the offence covers several States, accordingly, let the investigation be conducted by any officer not below the rank of the Deputy Commissioner of Police.

Steps shall be taken to proceed with the investigation diligently and conclude the same in accordance with law at the earliest.

The writ petition stands disposed of.
