The Court : Pursuant to previous direction of this Court, learned Counsel for the State files a detailed report as to the status of the investigation. Such report, inter alia, discloses that a forensic report has been obtained from the relevant authorities which indicates that a portion of the registration number of the offending vehicle could be deciphered.

As such, the scope of the investigation, naturally, becomes much wider than it initially was, in so far as the identification of the exact vehicle is concerned. However, this Court is satisfied that the police have taken sufficient measures till date for adequate investigation into the matter. Accordingly, WPO 254 of 2020 is disposed of by directing the police authorities to conduct further investigation on the basis of the forensic report received by them as expeditiously as possible in the circumstances. A copy of the report filed by the State-respondents, dated February 23, 2020, be handed over to the petitioner. In the event the police authorities find any additional

material or get a lead upon investigation, such information shall be furnished before the concerned Magistrate, before whom the connected case is pending, in the form of an additional report to ensure fair trial in the matter. No order as to costs.
