Affidavit filed on behalf of the National Jute Board in Court today is taken on record.

The petitioners claim interest on account of the interest earned by the National Jute Board on the security deposit which was fixed with the Bank of Baroda and has earned interest at the rate of 6.8 per cent per annum. 3.
It appears that the Court directed the due amount to be retained by the National Jute Board in a fixed deposit so as to secure the amount which was payable to the petitioners. The payment has since been made. 4.
The petitioners were entitled to the money in terms of a scheme. The scheme does not lay down any provision for payment of interest on account of the delayed payment of the sum. The petitioners seek interest only because the money was secured in the bank and the same has earned some interest.

The Court is not convinced with the submission of the petitioners that the interest which accrued on the fixed deposit should be paid to them. The affidavit of the National Jute Board discloses that interest that was earned has been deposited under the head "Major Head Civil Disputes". 6.
The said interest will not be payable to the petitioners. The judgment and order dated 16th October, 2023 passed in WPO/2222/2022 has since been executed by virtue of the order passed in the instant writ petition. The petitioners have received the amount in accordance with the scheme. 7.
The writ petition and the connected application being IA NO. GA/1/2025 stand disposed of.
