The Court: Petitioner seeks recalculation of the pensionable salary and payment of the arrears. Learned advocate appearing for the bank submits that the claim of the petitioner was sent for verification at the branch level. The bank is awaiting for response from the branch.

In the facts of the present case, since there is a claim for calculation of pensionable salary and payment along with arrears, it would be appropriate to direct the respondent no.2 to take a decision on the claim of the petitioner, as expeditiously as possible and preferably within eight weeks from the date of communication of this order. The respondent no.2 will afford a reasonable opportunity of hearing to the petitioner. He is at liberty to hear such other parties and consult such documents as he may deem fit

and proper. He will pass a reasoned order which he will communicate to the petitioner forthwith thereafter. In the event, the respondent no.2 finds that the claim or a portion thereof made by the petitioner is permissible, he will take suitable follow up steps with regard thereto.
