The Court: During the pendency of the writ petition, the petitioner was invited for a discussion by the Eastern Coalfields Limited (in short 'ECL'). In course of the discussion it was proposed by ECL that they will be paying a sum of Rs.47,39,889.59 on account of arrears of Monthly Monetary Cash Compensation (MMCC) from 14th November, 1995 to 31st August, 2024 to the petitioner. The calculation and the proposal dated 27/28th August, 2024 is placed before the Court and is taken on record. The petitioner says that she is agreeable to accept the said sum of Rs.47,39,889.59 towards the arrear of MMCC from 14th November, 1995 to 31st August, 2024 being the principal sum for the aforesaid period if the same is paid within a fortnight from date and the current MMCC, at the applicable rate

shall, however, be continued to be paid till the petitioner reaches the age of 60 years.

Considering the submissions and the materials on record I find that the writ petition can be disposed of by directing the ECL to pay the arrear of MMCC from 14th November, 1995 to 31st August, 2024 aggregating to a sum of Rs.47,39,889.59 within 8th October, 2024. The current MMCC for the month of September, 2024 shall also be paid by 8th October, 2024. The MMCC for the subsequent period till the petitioner reaches the age of 60 years shall be paid month by month by the 10th of each succeeding month for the month which had fallen due.

Nothing further remains in the writ petition to be adjudicated. Accordingly, WPO/566/2024 is disposed of.
