Complaining of failure on the part of the concerned respondent to hear out and dispose of the appeal filed under section 246A(1)(a) of the Income Tax Act, 1961 (hereinafter to referred to as "the said Act") from an assessment order dated 6th December 2016 passed under section 143(3) of the said Act for the assessment year 2014-15 on remand by the Income Tax Appellate Tribunal by order dated 7th October, 2020, the instant writ petition has been filed.

2. Having heard the learned advocate representing the respective parties and noting from the submissions made by the learned advocates that the appeal filed by the petitioner is pending on remand since 7th October 2020 and despite representations being made vide a letter dated 10th April 2025 no steps have been taken, I am of the view that the

aforesaid appeal should be disposed of in accordance with law as expeditiously as possible, preferably within a period of 16 weeks from the date of communication of this order.
