...for the respondent no. 3 The Court: While the petitioner seeks a status of her application for passport to travel to Bangladesh, the respondent Passport Authorities are not even in a position to clarify the status as on the date the petitioner was called to provide a suitable explanation. The Regional Passport Office, Kolkata, issued a letter to the petitioner on 9th December, 2022 giving the petitioner 30 days to respond to the letter. The petitioner replied by a letter dated 10th January, 2023. The Status Tracker reflected in the Passport Seva Portal, however, shows that the show cause notice with regard to the petitioner was closed as of 14th December, 2022. The Status Tracker does not bear a date.

Since the respondents have not been able to lend any clarity in the matter whether the petitioner's representation/ explanation was at all considered by the respondents, WPO/942/2023 is disposed of with a direction on the respondent no. 3 being the Regional Passport Officer to consider the petitioner's explanation dated 10th January, 2023 which was duly given in response to the respondents' letter of 9th December, 2022, within 6th June, 2023. A copy of the respondents' reply/ decision shall be communicated to the petitioner by 9th June, 2023.
