The instant writ petition has been filed, inter alia, praying for a direction upon the Jurisdictional Assessing Officer to dispose of the rectification petition filed by the petitioner on 28th April 2022 in respect of assessment year 2017-18.

Having heard learned advocates appearing for the respective parties and noting from the submissions made by Mr. Mitra, learned advocate representing Income Tax Department that the above application is, in fact, pending, I am of the view that such application should be disposed of at the earliest, preferably within a period of four weeks from the date of communication of this order, upon giving an opportunity of

hearing to the petitioner and by passing a reasoned order. The petitioner may file additional documents or representation, if necessary.
