The Court : It is submitted on behalf of the petitioners that the order under contempt has been substantially complied with. At this stage the petitioners' only grievance is with regard to certain deductions made in respect of the writ petitioner nos.34 and 41 who retired during the pendency of the writ petition and the contempt application. The contempt jurisdiction is very specific and does not permit the Court to substitute or pass fresh orders apart from supervising the compliance of the order already passed. The issue regarding the deductions made in respect of the writ petitioner nos.34 and 41 relates to the merits of the writ petition as the petitioners contend that the deductions have been made in an unauthorised manner while the alleged contemnors and

Shyama Prasad Mookerjee Port being the principal respondent in the writ petition contend that the deductions are not connected to the order, violation whereof has been alleged in this contempt application. In the aforesaid facts and circumstances, nothing further remains to be adjudicated in the contempt application.

The contempt application being CC 28 of 2022 is accordingly disposed of by granting liberty to the petitioners to ventilate their grievances with regard to the deductions said to have been made in respect of petitioner no. 34 and 41 before the Writ Court where the main writ petition is pending.
