The Court: The petitioner has preferred the present application under Section 29A of the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996 seeking extension of time for conclusion of the arbitral proceedings and publication of the arbitral award.

Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that this Court vide order dated 22.11.2022 passed in AP No. 863 of 2022 appointed the sole arbitrator to adjudicate the dispute between the parties. It is submitted that the mandate of the learned arbitral Tribunal expired on 14.04.2025, hence in accordance with Section 29A (3) of the Act, by mutual consent of the parties, the mandate of the arbitral Tribunal was extended by a further period of six months i.e. till 15.10.2025. The evidence of both the parties has been concluded and the matter is presently fixed for final argument.

In such facts and circumstances, the petitioner has approached this Court seeking extension of the mandate of the arbitral Tribunal for a further period of six months.

Learned counsel for the respondent submits that he has no objection to the prayer made by the petitioner.

Considering the submissions made on behalf of both sides, this Court is inclined to extend the mandate of the arbitral tribunal for a further period of six months from today.

With the aforesaid direction, the present application, being APCOM/763/2025 is disposed of. There shall be no order as to costs.
