...for the State The Court: The petitioner has challenged in this writ petition, firstly, the alleged unauthorised and illegal imposition of tax upon him by an office which, according to the petitioner, has no jurisdiction to do so and, secondly, the inaction of the respondent authorities in considering his representation dated March 27, 2024.

Mr. Roychowdhury, appearing for the respondent authorities, intended to raise a preliminary point of objection in this case that the writ petitioner has an alternative remedy to exhaust before he could come before this Court in a writ petition.

On the other hand, Mr. Mukherjee's client is aggrieved due to the prolonged, inordinate and unreasonable delay of the respondent authorities in considering his prayer, vide his representation dated March 27, 2024.

Without going into the merits of the present case, it is found proper to direct the Secretary, State Transport Authority, West Bengal, to immediately take up the demand notice of the writ petitioner, vide the letter dated March 27, 2024 and decide thereupon, after affording an opportunity of hearing to the writ petitioner and by dint of a reasoned order. Let the entire exercise, as above, be concluded by him within a period of three weeks from the date of communication of a copy of this order. WPO/988/2024 is disposed of with the direction as above.
