...for the respondent The Court: This is an application filed by the petitioner under Section 29A of the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996, seeking extension of time period for conclusion of the arbitral proceedings and publication of the award.

Learned Counsel for the petitioner submits that this Court vide order dated 11.10.2023 appointed the sole Arbitrator for adjudicating the disputes between the parties. With the consent of the parties, the mandate of the arbitral tribunal was earlier extended for a further period of six months till 07.10.2025. The arbitral proceedings are presently at the stage of recording the respondent's evidence.

In view thereof, the petitioner is seeking an extension of six months for conclusion of the arbitral proceedings and publication of the award. Learned Counsel for the petitioner submits that the Arbitrator has already conducted more than 24 hearings and concluded the recording of the claimant's evidence.

Learned Counsel for the respondent no.1 states that he has no objection to the extension application.

Upon consideration of the submission and materials placed on record, this Court is satisfied that there has been no undue or unwarranted delay on the part of the arbitral tribunal in conducting the proceeding. Considering the present stage of the proceedings and in the interest of justice, this Court deems it appropriate to grant a further extension of six months from today to enable the arbitral tribunal to conclude the proceedings and publish the arbitral award.

Accordingly, the Arbitral Tribunal is requested to make all endeavours to conclude the proceedings and publish the arbitral award within the extended time period.

With the aforesaid observation, the present arbitration petition is disposed of.
