The Court: The petitioners claim to be a civil contractor which was engaged by the West Bengal Transport Corporation. The petitioners claim that the petitioners completed the work part and that 90% of the petitioners' dues have been paid by the State respondent. The claim in the present writ petition relates to the security deposit which has been withheld by the State respondent amounting to Rs.77,09,244/-.

Learned counsel appearing for the WBTC submits that this amount is accepted by it but that it requires time to make the payment to the petitioners.

WPO/2338/2022 is disposed of with a direction on the respondent no.4 being the Managing Director, West Bengal Transport

Corporation to pay the amount of Rs.77,09,244/- to the petitioners within a period of one month, as prayed for. The amount shall carry interest at the rate of 6% p.a. from the date the amount fell due to the date of payment to the petitioners.
