...for the petitioner The Court: This is an application for extension of the learned Arbitrator's mandate under Section 29-A(4) of the 1996 Act. Learned counsel appearing for the petitioner submits that the period under Section 29-A(1) was completed on 28th February, 2023 taking advantage of the orders passed by the Supreme Court extending periods of limitation under the General and Special Laws and the additional six months under Section 29-A(3) was exhausted on 30th August, 2023. The present application was filed on 25th August, 2023.

The Court is informed that the first witness of the respondent is presently being cross-examined.

Upon hearing learned counsel appearing for the petitioner and considering the fact that this is the first application for extension of the mandate of the learned Arbitrator, AP/611/2023 is accordingly allowed and disposed of by extending the mandate for six months from 30th August, 2023.
