The writ petition was filed seeking issuance of a writ of Mandamus directing appointment of member in the Court Room No.1 of the West Bengal State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission.

Learned advocate representing the State of West Bengal has produced before this Court a write up from the Special Secretary to the Government of West Bengal, Department of Consumer Affairs signed on 10th February, 2025 mentioning that at present Bench No.1 of the Forum is functional and is taken up matters on regular basis. Bench No.1 currently has the required quorum. 3.

Learned advocate representing the petitioner points out that according to the Consumer Protection [Consumer Commission Procedure] Regulations, 2020, the hearing hours of the Commission is from 10.30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 2 p.m. to 4.30 p.m. It has been submitted that the Bench hardly functions after 2 p.m.

Learned counsel representing the State respondents submits that hearing hours are fixed by the Regulations.

It is expected that the Commission shall function strictly in accordance with the Regulations laid down and will abide by the hearing hours as mentioned in the said Regulations.

The writ petition stands disposed of.
