The Court:- Affidavit of service is taken on record. The petitioner has preferred the present application under Section 29A of the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996, seeking extension of the mandate of the arbitral tribunal for conclusion of the arbitral proceedings and publication of the award.

Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that this Court, vide order dated 8th December 2022 had appointed a sole arbitrator to adjudicate the disputes between the parties. Thereafter, with the consent of the parties, the mandate of the arbitrator was extended further for a period of six months. Subsequently, vide orders dated 05.11.2024 and 26.06.2025, this Court extended the mandate of the arbitrator by six months each. It is further submitted that the mandate of the learned arbitrator expired on 17.12.2025.

Learned counsel for the petitioner states that the arbitrator has already held 41 hearings and the arguments have been concluded. None appears for the respondent, despite service. Upon consideration of the materials on record, this Court is satisfied that there has been no unwarranted or undue delay on the part of the learned sole arbitrator. Having regard to the advanced stage of the proceeding and in the interest of justice, the mandate of the learned sole arbitrator is further extended for a period of three months from today. The learned sole arbitrator is requested to make all endeavours to conclude the proceedings and publish the award within the extended time period.
