The Court: The matter is heard in presence of the learned advocates representing the petitioner, West Bengal Transport Corporation Limited (hereinafter referred to as 'Corporation') and the State respondents.

It is submitted by the learned advocate representing the petitioner that the petitioner retired on superannuation being employee of the Corporation on 30th September, 2024. It is submitted by the learned

advocate representing the petitioner that though other retiral dues were paid to the petitioner within time but Provident Fund dues were released in favour of the petitioner on 30th August, 2025. The petitioner prays for interest due to delay caused in releasing the Provident Fund.

Having heard the learned advocates representing the parties, it appears that it is indisputable the petitioner received Provident Fund dues belatedly which confers right upon the petitioner to get interest on Provident Fund amount. Accordingly, the concerned respondent authority of the Corporation is directed to pay interest at the rate of 6% per annum on Provident Fund dues due to delay caused in releasing the same in favour of the petitioner from the date following the date of retirement of the petitioner till the date of release of Provident Fund dues within a period of four months from the date of communication of this order.

In default of paying interest to the petitioner in terms of the aforesaid direction, the concerned respondent authority shall be liable to pay interest at the rate of 8% on Provident Fund dues. 5.

In case of necessity, State Government shall provide fund for paying interest to the petitioner in terms of the aforesaid direction. 6.

The writ petition stands disposed of.
