...for the State The Court: Affidavit of service filed today be kept on record. The petitioner submits that the petitioner intends to purchase a property for which purpose a valuation was sought from the registering authorities. However, being dissatisfied with the exorbitant valuation assessed by the Registrar of Assurances, the petitioner made a representation to the Additional Registrar of Assurance, Kolkata seeking a re-consideration of the valuation on which stamp duty is payable on the proposed deed.

The same having been kept pending, the present writ petition has been preferred. Learned counsel for the respondent authorities points out that there is a provision of appeal against the assessment of valuation if a person is aggrieved by such valuation.

Be that as it may, since the present prayer of petitioner is innocuous, WPO/1813/2023 is disposed of by directing the respondent no.3, the Registrar of Assurance, Kolkata, to consider the petitioners' representation dated November 16, 2023 annexed at page 75 (Annexure - P3) of the writ petition as expeditiously as possible, if necessary upon giving an opportunity to the petitioner, within a fortnight from date and to communicate the outcome of such consideration to the petitioner immediately thereafter.

No order as to costs.
