[ CIRCUIT BENCH AT PORT BLAIR ] *** WPA/7/2024 Manoj Paul Vs.
Chairman/Secretary, DLSA and others Mr. Manoj Paul ... in person [through virtual mode] January 10, 2024 [SR] Item No.21 The writ petition is not maintainable in its present form. A mandamus is being asked for upon the advocates to withdraw an alleged boycott against the petitioner. Advocates are professionals who have private practice and accept clients as per choice. They are not amenable to the writ jurisdiction of this Court. The writ Court cannot issue a Mandamus directing an Advocate to take up the petitioner's case.
The petitioner is at liberty to approach the appropriate authority for engagement of a learned advocate from the District Legal Services Authority or State Legal Services authority. The petitioner may also approach the learned Court for necessary orders in this regard.
The writ petition is, accordingly, disposed of. ( Shampa Sarkar, J. )
