The Superintendent and Others Mr. Siddhartha Singha .... for the petitioner Mr. Rakesh Kumar ... for the respondents February 03, 2026 [SR] Item No.4 The petitioner claims that he rendered transportation service to Sub- Jail, Mayabunder for the period 2019 onwards. However, his lawful dues/bills on that account have not been cleared by the respondents. He prays for a writ of mandamus directing the respondents to clear his bills. I find that the petitioner has made a representation dated December 19, 2025 addressed to all three respondents herein. I direct the respondent no.1, being the Superintendent of SubJail, Mayabunder/Correctional Home, North and Middle Andaman to dispose of the said representation by passing a reasoned order in accordance with law within a period of six weeks from the date of communication of this order to him by the petitioner. The order will be communicated to the petitioner within a week from the date of the order.

In the event the said respondent finds that moneys are due and payable to the petitioner as claimed by him, the respondent no.1 shall issue appropriate directions so that the

dues of the petitioner are cleared at an early date and positively within six weeks from the date of the order to be passed by the respondent no.1.

I clarify that I have not considered the merits of the petitioner's claim. The respondent no.1, being a responsible public officer, will take an informed decision in the matter, in accordance with law.

WPA/34/2026 is disposed of.
