By presenting this writ petition, petitioners have claimed settlement of land which they or their predecessors-in-interest are occupying for a long period of time.

It is contended on behalf of the petitioners that the scheme promulgated by the Andaman and Nicobar Administration vide circular dated 17th August, 1987 comes in their favour.

Respondents are represented by learned advocate who has submitted that similar other matters are pending at present before the Deputy Commissioner, North and Middle Andaman, Mayabunder.

A representation dated 25th September, 2024 has been made on behalf of the petitioners and the same be considered by the respondent no.5 within a period of twelve weeks from the date of communication of this order after granting opportunity of hearing to one of the writ petitioners or his representative and a reasoned order shall be communicated to the petitioners by two weeks thereafter.

Respondent no.5 shall be at liberty to inspect the land in question upon putting the petitioners on seven days notice. 6.
With the aforesaid directions, the writ petition stands disposed of.

Since affidavits are not called for, the allegations made in the writ petition are deemed not to have been admitted. 8.
Urgent certified copy of this order, if applied for, be supplied to the learned advocate appearing for the parties upon compliance of usual formalities.
