Andaman and Nicobar Administration and Others Mr. Somraj Gangopadhyay .... for the petitioners Mr. Babita Das ... for the respondents February 06, 2026 [SR] Item No.5 The petitioners claim to have purchased a plot of land vide sale deed dated July 11, 2013. Their main prayer in the writ petition is as follows:- "a) Issue a writ in the nature of Mandamus commanding the respondents to provide them a specific survey number/numbers by demarketing, the land with proper mapping in respect of 400 square meter of land under Survey No. 103, classified as House Site situated at Garacharma village, under Port Blair Tehsil." I find that the petitioners have made a representation dated November 12, 2025 addressed to the Chief Secretary, Sri Vijaya Puram. However, I am told that the Chief Secretary may not be the appropriate authority. Representation should be made to the concerned Tehsildar.

The petitioner will be at liberty to make a comprehensive representation to the concerned Tehsildar within a week from date annexing thereto all supporting documents. The Tehsildar shall take a reasoned decision on that representation, in accordance with law and the applicable rules and regulations, if any, within a period of eight weeks from the date of receipt of

the representation, after granting an opportunity of hearing to the petitioners or their authorized representative. The decision so taken shall be communicated to the petitioners within a week from the date of the decision.

It is expected that if there is no grave reason to disallow the prayer of the petitioners, the Tehsildar shall do the needful in the matter.

Since I have not called for affidavits, the allegations contained in the writ petition are deemed not to have been admitted by the respondents.
