The writ petition has been filed for inaction on the part of the respondent authorities for not giving electric meter connection in favour of the present petitioner despite the fact that he fulfilled all other criterias.

It is submitted by the learned advocate that initially in the year 2023 the application for supply of electric meter was filed which was kept pending and ultimately this writ petition had to be filed.

Learned advocate representing the respondents authorities admitted that the pendency of the application since long and further submits that since October 2024 the applications are to be filed in the online portal and hence request was made to submit such form. It is further submitted that if the application is submitted through online portal it will be immediately considered and disposed of by the respondent authorities.

Considering the facts and circumstances it is seen that there are delay and negligence on the part of the respondent authorities in disposing of the application which was filed way

back in the year 2023 despite being the fact that the electricity is an essential amenities attached to life.

At this stage since the system has been introduced to file the application through online portal the petitioner is directed to file the said application through online portal along with previous application filed in the year 2023 with the same affidavit filed alongwith that application. The said Form is to be filed within a week from this date.

The respondent authorities are directed to dispose of the said application within a period of fortnight positively without causing any further delay from the date of filing of such application positively, either by passing a reasoned order or by providing electricity connection to the house of the petitioner. 7.

Hence the instant writ petition is disposed of with the above direction.

Since no affidavit has been called for the allegations contained in the writ application are deemed to have been not admitted.

Parties are directed to act on the serve copy of this order to be downloaded from the official website of this court. 10.

Urgent photostat certified copy of this order, if applied for, is to be given to the parties on priority basis on compliance of all legal formalities.
