Respondents Mrs.Shipra Mondal, Advocate ... for the petitioner Mr.Krishna Rao, Advocate ... for the respondents September 20, 2021 [GNC] Item No.9 The instant writ petition is filed alleging inaction on the part of the respondent No.2 to dispose of the representation dated 21st December, 2020 filed by the petitioner under section 22 of the Employees Compensation Act, 1923. The said representation was made seeking compensation under the provisions of the said Act having met with an accident in course of discharging the official duty. Once such an application has been taken out, the authorities cannot keep such application in abeyance. The authorities must show alacrity in disposing of such application seeking compensation.

Accordingly, the respondent No.2 is directed to dispose of the said representation dated 21st December, 2020 filed by the petitioner within four weeks from the date of communication of

this order after affording an opportunity of hearing to the petitioner in accordance with law.

Nothing observed hereinabove shall be construed to have an impact on the merit or demerit on the said representation as this Court has no occasion to go into that.

With these observations and direction, the writ petition is disposed of. However, there shall be no order as to costs. ( Harish Tandon, J. )
