Kamaraj ... for the respondents Nos. 6 March 20, 2024 [AKB] Item No.3 The petitioner claims himself to be a member of a society namely, Baruva Abhyudhaya Sangam, a society registered under the Societies Registration Act, 1860. It is the grievance of the petitioner that the said society, for last 15 years, has not conducted any general body meeting or presented any expenditure details to the members of the society. Several complaints were lodged before the Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman District, Port Blair regarding malfunctioning of the society. By issuing two notices dated November 11, 2021 and December 7, 2021, the office of the Deputy Commissioner called the President and General Secretary of the Society to attend meeting, but thereafter no further steps have been taken.

Learned Advocate appearing for the petitioner submits that the said authority should conclude the proceedings initiated on the basis of the aforesaid two notices.

I find no justification to keep this writ petition pending. Accordingly, I disposed of this writ petition being WPA/177/2024 with a direction upon the Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman District, Port Blair to conclude the proceedings initiated on the basis of the notices dated November 11, 2021 and

December 7, 2021 within a period of three months from the date of communication of this order.

The said authorities shall give an opportunity of hearing to all concerned, including the petitioner.

Accordingly, WPA/177/2024 is disposed of.
