The petitioner in the instant case prays for a writ of mandamus directing the respondent to grant a fresh electricity connection against an online application being Annexure P 2 at page 11 which has been submitted on 26.08.2025. 2.

The learned counsel appearing for the respondent authorities submits that the said application has already been considered on 29.08.2025, rejecting, inter alia, on the ground of not uploading the relevant documents for proof of occupancy of the premises as per 5.30 Clause 8 of JERC (Electricity Supply Code) Regulation, 2018.

In view of the above, the petitioner is directed to file an online application afresh uploading the relevant documents namely ration card or election card having the same address as proof of occupancy for supply of electricity within a period of four weeks as the respondent No.2 shall revisit the issue by considering the documents attached to the new application and dispose of the same within a period of two weeks and pass a reasoned order in accordance with law upon affording opportunity of hearing to the petitioner and other stakeholders,

if any, and communicate such decision within a week thereafter.

The Licensing Authority shall be at liberty to cause inspection, if any, within a period of two weeks to ascertain the wiring and earthing of the premises in question before providing afresh electricity connection.

However, it is made clear that, if the authority concerned is satisfied with the conditions required for providing fresh electricity connection, the same shall be granted forthwith, preferably within a period of ten days upon payment of all requisite fees.

The writ petition is disposed of without going into the merits of the case.

Parties are directed to act on the serve copy of this order to be downloaded from the official website of this court. 8.

Urgent photostat certified copy of this order, if applied for, is to be given to the parties on priority basis on compliance of all legal formalities.
