Parties are represented by the respective lawyers. Learned counsel for the respondents furnished copy of the order No. 35 dated 21st January, 2022 and submits that in view of such order necessary order may be passed as the writ petitioner V. Chandran, life convict has already been extended benefit of pre mature released. Present writ petition is under Article 226 of the Constitution of India at the instance of life convict Shri V. Chandran for issuance of writ in nature of Mandamus and Certiorari for pre mature released from the correctional home as he has already completed 14 years of imprisonment for committing offence under Section 302 of Indian Penal Code pursuant to Rule 20.4 of chapter XX of Prison Manual for Andaman and Nicobar Islands, 2021. Perused the Order No.

35 dated 21st Janaury, 2022 passed by the Lieutenant Governor, Andaman and Nicobar Administration, which shows convict No. 10926 V. Chandran S/o V. R. Velu R/O Prothrapur under P.S. Pahargaon, South Andaman District who is undergoing life imprisonment in District Prison, Prothrapur, Andaman and Nicobar Islands has been recommended by his Excellency Lieutenant Governor, Andaman and Nicobar Islands in exercise of the powers conferred upon him under Section 432 and 433 (A) of the Code of Criminal Procedure read with the Government of India, Ministry of Hone Affair's Notifications No. U-11011/2/74-UTL (I) dated 20.03.1974 and with Rule 20.

24 of Chapter XX of Prison Manual for Andaman and Nicobar Islands -2021, has been pleased to remit the remaining portion of the sentence of life imprisonment to which the convict has been sentenced and he be released from the prison for rest of his life.

Therefore, in view of the order of remission passed by His Excellency Lieutenant Governor, Andaman and Nicobar Islands and writ petitioner a life convict who has been extended pre matured released from prison for the rest of his life and as such the present writ petition becomes infructuous.

Accordingly, WPA/299/2021 and other connected applications, if any are disposed of accordingly. All parties to act in terms of the copy of the order downloaded from the official website of this Court. Urgent certified copy of this order if applied for may be supplied to the parties upon compliance of usual formalities.
