The Superintending Engineer and others Mr. Ananda Halder .... for the petitioners Mr. Tulsi Lall ... for the respondents July 5, 2024 [SR] Item No.4 Petitioner contends he had purchased the land bearing survey No.8/12/1/ situated at Sippighat Village under Port Blair Tehsil, South Andaman District and is in possession of the said land. He has approached the respondent authorities to give him electricity connection but no steps have been taken.

Learned lawyer for the State-respondent submits that the petitioner has not produced documents to show that he is in settled possession on the land in question I have considered the materials on record. As per section 43 of the Electricity Act, a person in settled possession is entitled to electricity connection.

In view of the aforesaid, I direct the respondent no.2 to consider the representation of the writ petitioner annexed at page 27 of the writ petition and upon inspection of the site, if it is found that the petitioner is in settled possession, the said respondent shall give electricity connection to him at the earliest not later than eight weeks from the date of communication of this order.

With the above direction, WPA/312/2024 is disposed of. ( Joymalya Bagchi, J. )
