Jayapal) Mr. Sumit Kumar Karmakar ... for the respondents August 26, 2025 [AKB] Item No.4 The petitioner has preferred the present writ petition seeking directions for providing police protection, alleging that there exists a threat to his life as well as to the safety of his family members.

The petitioner, who appears in person, has submitted that he apprehends danger from certain unknown persons who may cause harm to him and his family.

This Court, vide order dated 14.07.2025, directed the respondent-State to file a report in response to the allegations made in the writ petition and further directed the respondents to take necessary steps to ensure the safety and protection of the life and property of the petitioner and his family members. Pursuant thereto, the SHO, Police Station Aberdeen, has filed a report. The report states that the complaint of the petitioner, Shri Tulsi Lall, an Advocate by profession, was duly examined. A detailed inquiry in to the threat perception qua the petitioner and his family members were conducted based on the

allegations made by the petitioner. During the inquiry, statements of the petitioner, his son Shri Rohit Lall, and his assistant Ms. Jaysree were recorded.

Further, flight manifest details were obtained from the Special Branch, CID, Sri Vijaya Puram, and all relevant materials were duly scrutinized. It was revealed that the petitioner resides with his family at Chidambaram Colony, Bhathubasti, and had travelled along with his family to Chennai on 02.07.2025 for the medical treatment of his wife. The apprehension of the petitioner that he was being followed by unknown persons was also looked into. Upon thorough inquiry, the respondent-State concluded that there was no indication of any threat to the petitioner or his family members at Sri Vijaya Puram. Nevertheless, as a precautionary measure, two constables, one each from PS Aberdeen and PS Pahargoan, were deployed round the clock for the security of the petitioner.

In view of the threat perception report, which clearly establishes that no threat exists to the petitioner or his family members, this Court finds no further necessity of providing security. However, it is observed that the petitioner shall always be at liberty to approach the respondent-State in the event of any fresh threat or circumstance warranting police protection. With the above, the present writ petition is disposed of. (Gaurang Kanth, J.)
