Sunandha v. The Andaman And Nicobar Administration And Others
IN THE HIGH COURT AT CALCUTTA
[ CIRCUIT BENCH AT PORT BLAIR ] *** WPA/318/2026 Sunandha Vs The Andaman and Nicobar Administration and Others Mr. Lokesh Chezian N.
... for the petitioner Mr. S. C. Mishra ... for the respondents July 01, 2026 [AKB] Item No.15 This writ petition lays challenge to an order dated January 29, 2026 passed by the respondent no. 3 thereby rejecting the petitioner's application for grant of electricity connection.
The petitioner's request for electricity supply has been declined by the respondent electricity authorities on the ground that the petitioner has not been able to furnish documents in support of the petitioner's occupation of the relevant premises. Learned Advocate appearing for the petitioner submits that the petitioner has in the petitioner's possession, all relevant documents in support of the petitioner's occupancy of the relevant premises.
However, since the relevant documents could not be produced before the electricity authorities, the order of rejection cannot be interfered with. In any case a fresh application can always be filed.
In such view of the matter, this writ petition is disposed of by granting liberty to the petitioner to file a fresh application
for electricity supply before the respondent electricity authorities in accordance with law along with all relevant documents. Needless to mention that if such application is filed along with the relevant documents, the Electricity Authority shall consider the same and take appropriate steps to grant electricity supply to the petitioner in case the petitioner is found eligible, subject to compliance with all formalities and payment of all charges in accordance with law.
The writ petition being WPA/318/2026 is disposed of. There shall be no order as to costs.
