Mishra ... for the respondents July 10, 2025 [AKB] Item No.8 Learned counsel for the petitioner has filed supplementary affidavit in terms of the order dated 08.07.2025 after serving a copy to the learned counsel for the respondents, let the same be kept with the records. The petitioner has filed the present writ application praying for a direction for grant of domestic electricity connection in the residential house of the petitioner in survey No. 3/1 measuring an area of 200 Sq.mtrs. situated at Nabagram village under Diglipur Tehsil, North and Middle Andaman.

Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that the petitioner has constructed a house in the said property and is residing along with the family members. On 01.05.2023 the petitioner has applied for grant of domestic electricity connection along with all documents, but till date the department has not considered the same.

Per contra, Mr.

S.C.Mishra, learned advocate appearing for the electricity department submits that the petitioner has occupied the forest land and in the forest land no electricity connection can be granted.

Considering the submission made by learned counsel for the respective parties, perused the material on record, this Court finds that the petitioner has applied for grant of electricity connection in the month of May, 2023 but till date the matter is pending with the authority.

Accordingly, the respondent authorities particularly respondent No.2, the Assistant Engineer, Electricity Department, Diglipur Division is directed to provide electricity connection in the premises of the petitioner within four weeks from the date of receipt of the copy of this order on compliance of all formalities.

It is made clear if the petitioner has occupied the forest land, the authorities will pass reasoned and speaking order within a period four weeks.

WPA/496/2024 is disposed of.
