Sabir .... for the petitioner Mr. Srinivas Naidu ... for the respondent [on behalf of Mr. Rakesh Kumar] December 11, 2025 [SR] Item No. 10 The petitioner claims that his father encroached a piece of government revenue land bearing Survey No.393/P measuring an area 100 sq.mtrs situated behind Vegetable Market, Bathu Basthi, Garacharma, Ward No.19, Sri Vijaya Puram Municipal Council, South Andaman District and residing therein by constructing dwelling house.

The petitioner claims that she has submitted an application before the Assistant Engineer-I, Sri Vijaya Puram Municipal Council, South Andaman praying for providing one number of water tap connection.

The grievance of the petitioner is that, till date, no decision on such representation has been communicated to the petitioner by the respondent authority.

Heard the learned advocate for the respondent. Since the petitioner has submitted an application praying for providing water tap connection, the authority is duty bound to take a decision on such application.

In view thereof, WPA/586/2025 stands disposed of by directing the Assistant Engineer -I, Sri Vijaya Puram Municipal Council, being respondent herein, to consider the representation, which was submitted at the office of the said respondent, dated July 14, 2025 and to dispose of the same by passing a reasoned order after giving an opportunity of hearing to the petitioner and communicate the reasoned order to the petitioner as expeditiously as possible but positively within a period of six weeks from the date of receipt of the server copy of this order along with the copy of the representation dated July 14, 2025,which is appearing at page 8 of this writ petition. Needless to mention that if the petitioner is entitled to get water tap connection, the respondent authority shall take necessary steps in accordance with law.

With the above observations and directions, WPA/586/2025 stands disposed of. There shall however be no order as to costs.
