The Andaman and Nicobar Administration and others Mr. C.Mano .... for the petitioner Mr. V.D Sivabalan ... for the respondents April 10, 2024 [SR] Item No. 26 Petitioner was issued a certificate to practice as a Notary under the Notaries Act, 1952 throughout the Diglipur area for a period of five years with effect from January 2015. Such authorization expired by efflux of time on January, 2020.At that point of time, India was reeling under the Covid-19 pandemic. Petitioner applied for extension which was rejected by the writing dated April 23, 2021. While rejecting the application, the authority noted that the petitioner is at liberty to file fresh application before the competent authority and if such application is filed the same will be considered.

Petitioner applied for appointment as Notary under the Notaries Act, 1952 on July 12, 2022 before the District Magistrate (Deputy Commissioner), North and Middle Andaman District, Mayabunder, Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Such application is yet to be considered and decided.

In such circumstances, it would be appropriate to request the District Magistrate (Deputy Commissioner) to consider and decide such application dated July 12, 2022 within a period of four weeks from the date of communication of this order. The District

Magistrate (Deputy Commissioner) will afford a reasonable opportunity of hearing to the writ petitioner and will pass a reasoned order and communicate the same forthwith thereafter. WPA/910/2023 is disposed of without any order as costs. ( Debangsu Basak, J. )
