The Petition challenges order dated 23 May 2017 passed by the Hon'ble Minister (Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Protection). The Petition is however filed on 22 August 2023. The only explanation pleaded in paragraph 17 of the Petition is sickness of the Petitioner's parents and thereafter their death on 22 November 2020 and 8 May 2021. Petitioner claims that he was in shock for several months after losing his parents. I am afraid, such explanation cannot be accepted for condoning inordinate delay of six long years in filing the Petition. Considering the nature of dispute, delay of six long years is clearly fatal. This Court is therefore not inclined to exercise its extraordinary jurisdiction considering the conduct of the Petitioner in simply sleeping over his right to challenge the order dated 23 May 2017.

The Writ Petition is accordingly rejected.
