We have heard Mr. Kachanpurkar, learned Counsel for the Petitioners. This petition is filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India. The only substantive prayer as made in the petition is prayer clause (b) which reads thus:- "(b) To issue writ of Mandamus or any other appropriate writ, order or direction thereby directing the Respondent No.2 to disburse the amount of the compensation to the petitioners as expeditiously as possible;"

5-ASWP-11741-2024.doc State Government, we had adjourned the proceedings to 12 September, 2024.

Today, Mr. Kachanpurkar would inform us that the petitioners have been paid a substantial amount of the awarded compensation. However, an amount which is approximately Rs.1.80 Lakhs remains to be paid.

Mr. Shinde states that an expeditious effort would be taken to pay such amounts. We do not intend to express any opinion on this issue. Suffice it to observe that the respondents shall take early steps to disburse the balance amount to the petitioners, which be done within a period of three months from today.

In the aforesaid circumstances further adjudication of the petition is not called for. We appreciate the stand taken by the State Government to disburse the amounts due and payable to the petitioners and more particularly considering that the petitioners are tribals. Disposed of. No costs.
