We have heard the learned Advocates for the Petitioner and the Respondent. The learned Advocate representing the Employees Provident Fund Organization (EPFO), Regional Office, Thane has tendered a print out of the email dated 13/02/2025, addressed to the Petitioner by the Department indicating that the interest amount on the delayed payment of the PF accumulations, was paid in view of the order of this Court dated 31/03/2023 in passed in WP/674/2022. The email date 13/02/2025 is taken on record and marked 'X' for identification.

However, it is undisputed that the said amount is calculated until March 2023 and paid on 13/02/2025. Apparently, the interest component for the this period will also have to be calculated for the period April 2023 to akn 1/2

The learned Advocate for the Petitioner submits that though the Authority has complied with the order of this Court, the delay of almost 22 months cannot be ignored. She submits that if the interest component is calculated for the said period, this Petition can be disposed off. 4.

The contention of the Petitioner is correct. The interest component on the delayed payment was to be calculated as per the order of this Court dated 31/03/2023. However, further delay is caused even thereafter until February 2025 when the actual payment of interest was made on 13/02/2025.

We, therefore, find it appropriate to record that the EPFO authority would calculate the interest for the delayed payment of the interest for the period April 2023 to February 2025 and pay the same to the Petitioner within a period of 60 days.

In view of above, the Petitioner submits that this Petition can be disposed off.

As such, this Petition stands disposed off.
