The prayer of the petitioners at this stage for issuance of directions for consideration of their candidature for reappointment in view of the provisions of the amended Rule 10(2) of the Consumer Protection (Qualification for Appointment, Method of Recruitment, Procedure of Appointment, Terms of Office, Resignation and Removal of the President and Member of the State Commission and District Commission), Rules, 2022 cannot be gone into in absence of selection process being undertaken by the respondents.

As far as challenge to the extent of the embargo created on the right of the petitioners of not to practice before the Consumer Forum is concerned, same prima facie appears to be in tune with the Advocates Act.

At this stage, the learned Counsel appearing for the petitioners is granted time of four weeks to prepare and address on the said issue, by way of last chance. 5.
