This is an application for condonation of delay of 229 days caused in filing the first appeal under Section 173 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988.

Considering the reasons mentioned in the application and the fact that the scheme of compensation under the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 is a beneficiary scheme, the delayof 229 days caused in filing the appeal is condoned.

It is made clear that the appellant shall not be entitled for interest on the enhanced compensation and other components, if any, for the delayed period. 5.
The application is allowed and disposed of accordingly.

The First Appeal be registered.
