The Interim Application is filed on account of the action of the Respondent-University in not renewing the Group Mediclaim Insurance Policy in respect of the Petitioners. It appears that the Head of the Department of the Petitioners had requested the Finance and Accounts Officer of the Respondent-University by letter dated 19 September 2024 to renew the Group Mediclaim Insurance Policy of the Petitioners. This would essentially mean that the Petitioners were made a part of the Group Mediclaim Insurance Policy by the Respondent-University. However instead katkam Page No.

k 2/2 10 ia 14637.24 in wp as.doc of renewing the said Group Mediclaim Insurance Policy, the Finance and Accounts Officer of the Respondent-University has erroneously treated the Petitioners as having retired from services of the Respondent-University and they have been advised by letter dated 4 October 2024 to exercise the option of self-continuation of the policy after 10 November 2024 by approaching the Insurance Company separately. 2.

I do not see why rejection of prayer of the Petitioners for regularization would result in withdrawal of Group Mediclaim Insurance Policy of which they were made a part even though they are not regular employees of the Respondent-University. 3.

In that view of the matter the Respondent-University shall ensure that the Group Mediclaim Insurance Policy in respect of the Petitioners is renewed forthwith. Necessary action be initiated within a period of two weeks from today. 4.

It is clarified that this Court has not considered the merits of the claim of the Petitioners for regularization in service of the Respondent-University.

The Interim Application is disposed of.
