The Writ Petition challenges the impugned order dated 15th May, 2023, passed by the Commissioner of Police, Thane, in exercise of power conferred under Sub-section (2) of Section 3 of the Maharashtra Prevention of Dangerous Activities of Slumlords, Bootleggers, Drug-offenders and Dangerous Persons, Video Pirates, Sand Smugglers and Persons Engaged in Black Marketing of Essential Commodities Act, 1981, Digitally signed by RAJESHRI PRAKASH AHER Date:

2/2 5 wp 745 of 2024.doc The petition was admitted on 7th March, 2024 and when it was listed on 14th June, 2024, none present for the petitioner and the same position continue even today. The learned Additional P.P. Mr.Gavand would point out to us that the order of detention was passed on 15th May, 2023 and the State Government by order dated 7th July, 2023, had directed his detention for a period of one year from the date of his detention and since the period has already lapsed, the Writ Petition has rendered infructuous and as such dismissed, as infructuous.
