DATED : 2nd SEPTEMBER, 2024 P.C:- The petitioner, who was convicted on 28/8/2008 by the City Civil Judge, Mumbai for committing an offence punishable u/s.302 and Section 341 of IPC, and was sentenced to suffer Life Imprisonment, has approached the Hon'ble The Chief Justice for seeking remission.

The letter addressed by him was converted into a Writ Petition and Advocate Vaibhav Kulkarni was appointed to represent him.

Today, the learned APP has placed before us a report from the Superintendent, Yerwada Open District Prison, Pune Tilak

2/2 14 WP 3155-24.doc dated 1/9/2024, informing that the petitioner/convict C-697, Santosh Dnynoba Tarte on undergoing the sentence of 22 years including remission, was released from prison on 1/2/2024. Taking the said communication on record, Petition is disposed off.

We would like to put the words of appreciation for Advocate Vaibhav Kulkarni, who, on being appointed has represented the cause of the petitioner effectively before us. We direct the Legal Services Authority to make over the legal remuneration to Advocate Vaibhav Kulkarni within a period of six weeks from today.
