After the Petitioner - under trial prisoner wrote communication seeking expeditious disposal of the cases which are pending against the Petitioner to this Court, this Court appointed Ms. Janhavi Karnik, learned Advocate to assist this Court.

We have gone through the list of the cases which are pending against the Petitioner before this Court. None of the cases are pending for more than ten years and as such, having regard to Anand

WP 6617-2024.doc the relevant policy, we do not deem it appropriate in our extra ordinary jurisdiction to grant expeditious disposal of cases as the other under trial prisoners are already in queue which cases are pending prior to the date of the cases which are initiated against the Petitioner.

As far as the cases which were pending for more than ten years against the Petitioner are already informed have been decided. However, we dispose of the Petition by granting liberty to the Petitioner to approach the Metropolitan Magistrate seeking expeditious disposal of the trial. In case, such request is made by the Petitioner, same be dealt with in accordance with law. 5.
