By an application dated 29 August 2024, submitted through the jail, the petitioner/ accused has sought an expedited trial before the learned Sessions Judge, Pune. 2.
The learned Counsel for the petitioner/accused submits that the petitioner /accused has been charged under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code ('IPC'), in CR No.312 of 2017, registered with Bharti Vidya Peeth Police Station, Pune. The petitioner has been languishing in jail since June 2019, and the trial remains pending, with only three witnesses examined so far.

Given that the petitioner has been in jail for a considerable period and the matter is unlikely to be heard in near future, this Court finds it appropriate to request the learned Sessions Court at Pune to expedite the trial proceedings.

Accordingly, the learned Sessions Court, Pune, is requested to proceed with the trial on its own merits in accordance with the law expeditiously.

The petition stands disposed of accordingly.
