The petitioner, a convict for an offence for life imprisonment, is refused furlough on the ground that the petitioner surrendered late in point of time by 377 days during covid period.

The case of the petitioner is that he was not informed the date of surrender and as such he continued to attend the concerned Police Station.

Be that as it may, considering the age of the petitioner, we are of the view that the petitioner can be admitted to furlough, subject to imposing reasonable conditions by the competent authority. That being so, the order impugned is quashed and set aside.

The petition stands partly allowed in above terms.
