On the last date of hearing, after hearing the learned counsel for both sides, time was granted to ascertain the status of the passport of the Applicant.

Today, during the course of hearing, learned counsel for the Applicant, submits that the passport of the Applicant has already expired. She places reliance on the order passed by a Co-ordinate Bench of this Court dated 24th March 2023, seeking a direction on the same lines as granted in the said order. This Court had posed a specific query as to whether there exists any mechanism for applying for a valid passport and visa from jail. 3.

Learned APP seeks time to take instructions and make a statement in this regard.
