The Applicant was convicted by the Special Judge, Solapur, in Special Case No.11/2011 vide the Judgment and Order dated 30/11/2017. He was convicted for the commission of offence punishable u/s 7, 13(1)(d), 13(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 and he was sentenced to suffer simple Digitally signed by MANUSHREE NESARIKAR Date:

The Applicant preferred Criminal Appeal No.1054 of 2017, which is admitted and is pending before this Court. The Applicant was granted bail vide the order dated 24/01/2018 passed in Criminal Application No.1726 of 2017. The Applicant wants to travel abroad. His son is working as a Software Engineer in a company in USA. The Applicant was granted permission to travel to USA for a reasonable period vide the order dated 21/02/2023 passed in Interim Application No.328 of 2023 in Criminal Appeal No.1054 of 2017. The Applicant had applied for the passport and was issued a passport by the authorities for a period of one year from 15/05/2024. 3.
Learned counsel for the Applicant submitted that the period of one year for the validity of the passport, is not sufficient because the process for Visa approval itself takes a long period and it is necessary that the passport is granted for a longer duration, so that his Visa application can be processed in accordance with rules.

Learned counsel Mr. S. K. Halwasia, appearing for the Passport Authority has no objection if suitable orders are passed in this connection.

Considering these submissions, the Applicant is permitted to apply for a fresh passport for a period of 5 years after surrendering his current passport.
