The present Application can be conveniently disposed of by passing the following directions.

The Applicant has sought renewal of his passport which cannot be permitted by this Court in accordance with the policy of the Government.

Ms. Pai, learned Special Public Prosecutor would inform the Court that the previous passport of the Applicant expired in 2020. Anand

2. IA 5219-2024.doc Be that as it may. Nothing precludes the Applicant from applying for a fresh passport. The Applicant is therefore directed to make an Application for a fresh passport. However, since the previous passport is in the custody of the Lower Court, it is directed that if a copy of the previous passport is required by the Passport Authority, the Lower Court shall provide a copy of the previous passport to the Passport Authority for the purpose of grant of a fresh passport strictly in accordance with law. Liberty to apply.
