The committee has refused permission to the petitioner to appear in person. On a query being made to the petitioner who appears in person, whether he is in a position to argue the election petition, he submits that he is aware about the procedure and the law and he would argue the petition in person. 2.

He, however, submits that he would argue in Marathi as he Page no. 1 of 2

11-ep-1-2025-ipal-39414-2024.doc does not understand English. On a query being made as to how did he affirm the election petition in English, he submits that he had drafted the petition in Marathi and got it translated. The notarised copy of the election petition nowhere indicates that the petitioner was explained the contents of the petition or the contents were interpreted in Marathi.

Office is directed to place the election petition before the learned Prothonotary, to make necessary inquiry and place on record the report as to in what manner the election petition was notarised, when the petitioner submits that he does not understand English. Necessary report to be submitted within two weeks. 4.

Stand over to 5th February 2025.
