This is a Petition filed under Section 29A of the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996 (the Act) seeking extension of the mandate of the Arbitrator.

The Arbitrator was initially appointed by an order dated 22 July 2019 of this Court.

Thereafter, at the meeting held on 1 April 2022, the parties have consented to extend the time for the Arbitrator to pass the Award till 29 November 2022.

Thereafter, by an order dated 28 November 2023 passed by this Court, the time for the Arbitrator to make the Award was extended till 28 November 2023.

The learned Counsel for the Petitioner has pointed out to the Court that, at a meeting held on 1 October 2024, the Arbitrator has closed the matter for passing an Award and what remains now is the passing of an Award.

In these circumstances, the Petitioner seeks extension for a period of six months.

In the aforesaid circumstances, it will be necessary to extend the time for the Arbitrator to make the Award by a period of six months. 8.
Accordingly the following order is passed :- (a) The time for the Arbitrator to make the Award is extended till 31 May 2025.
