The present Petition is filed under Section 29A of the Arbitration and Conciliation Act 1996 for extension of the mandate of the Aribtral Tribunal.

Learned Counsel appearing for the Applicant has pointed out that this is the first extension of time that is been sought for. The arbitral proceedings are at the stage final arguments. There is no opposition of this application.

Since there is no objection to the grant of extension per se, the Commercial Arbitration Petition is made absolute in terms of prayer clause (a), which reads thus:

"(a) Extend the mandate of the Tribunal from 15 May 2024 for a period of 1 year or for such time period as this Hon'ble Court deems appropriate for the Tribunal to pass an award in the captioned arbitration proceedings." 4.

It is made clear that the one year time to complete the mandate of the Tribunal shall commence from the date on which a copy of this order is uploaded.

The Petition is accordingly disposed of.
